| Pure zinc is a crystalline metal, insoluble in hot and cold water. Zinc is extremely brittle, but becomes malleable between 120° and 150°. The metal is used principally as a galvanizer for iron and steel. Zinc sulfide is useful in applications involving gravoluminescence, photoconductivity, and semifluxation. It is also employed as a phosphor for the screens of personal communication devices. |
